Nothing Happens Unless You Make It Happen.
TPM, Inc. is a leading technology company headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina. TPM is proud of its reputation of providing cutting-edge solutions to the engineering and design community for the past 40 years.
Integrity is the foundation of our company. Being a family business with strong Southern values, TPM expects nothing but the best from our employees. At TPM, we expect our representatives to ask themselves every day to do the right thing on every design, printing job, project and contract. We expect them to embrace change, become experts in the field, and provide our customers with exceptional leadership in the design and print industry-and they do.
TPM was founded with $700 in 1973 by a man who does not lose. The sheer will of Jerry Cooper made TPM the business it is today.
Jerry credits his passionate, driven spirit to his father, a mill worker and part-time minister. Jerry’s father encouraged strong morals and a positive outlook. Jerry grew up just south of Piedmont, South Carolina, with a close-knit family that valued service to community and country, faith in people’s inherent goodness, and doing the right thing. This foundation continues to guide TPM, along with another Cooper family dictum: never stop learning.
At an early age, Jerry demonstrated his natural business sense through curiosity and careful attention to others. As a young teenager working in his uncle’s department store, Jerry genuinely desired to improve every customer’s experience—and he did! He recognized the importance of asking the right questions to identify customer needs and then responded with personalized support.
Jerry’s experience, insight, and character would allow him to identify and embrace promising business opportunities later on. While working as a draftsman, Jerry realized printing blueprints could be lucrative to pay for college and pursue an engineering degree. Already dedicated to embracing change, Jerry purchased his first blueprinting machine, set up shop, and just like that, TPM (The Print Machine) was born.
From the moment TPM established its roots, the business experienced incredible growth. This growth was in the 1970s when architects, engineers, and designers were still drafting by hand, but a change was on the horizon, and Jerry could see it. He predicted the innovations that would cycle through Letraset, desktop computers, and ultimately the 3D drafting of Autodesk and SOLIDWORKS, which now bring innovative designs to life with incredible clarity and precision.
Jerry’s foresight keeps our company focused. Our innovation is constant. As TPM leads the way in design and print, we must move quickly, embrace change and continue learning new technologies. Amidst the “always learning” culture at TPM, our solutions and offerings have stayed true to their original mission. While we’ve remained focused on the industries that have gotten us to where we are today, we are also always looking for additional opportunities to grow each of our customers in their respective fields.
The motto TPM shares with the Cooper family has been pivotal to our success at TPM. We expect every employee and client to follow Jerry’s lead – never stop learning.
